Manufactured Homes in Middlebury, Indiana: Planning for Storage You Will Actually Use

Middlebury sits in northeastern Elkhart County, surrounded by farm country, and homes here work hard: boots by the door, canning jars in the pantry, tools and seasonal gear that all need a place. When you choose a manufactured home, storage is one of the things a floor plan decides for good. It is worth counting before you order.
Count storage room by room
- Entry. Is there a closet or a utility room near the door you will use every day? That is where coats and muddy boots go.
- Kitchen. Count the cabinets and the pantry shelves, not just the floor space.
- Bedrooms. Look for walk-in closets in the main bedroom and real closets, not just alcoves, in the others.
- Linen and cleaning supplies. A hall closet near the bathrooms saves a lot of carrying.
- Utility room. Room beside the washer and dryer for folding, shelves and a broom.
Bring your own list
Before visiting the showroom, list what you need to store: holiday decorations, sports gear, canning supplies, bulk groceries. Then stand in each closet of a plan you like and picture it full. Our buyer’s guide has a fuller checklist of what to compare.
Plan the outside storage too
Lawn equipment, bikes and tools usually belong outside the home. A freestanding shed or garage is a separate project with its own permit, built by a contractor you hire; our Hudson post covers what to check before adding one.
Common questions
Can I add cabinets or shelves after delivery?
Often, yes, but check what the warranty says about changes to the home before you drill into walls.
Do multi-section homes have more storage?
Usually more total space, but layout matters more than size. Compare closets plan by plan.
