Manufactured Homes in Wawaka, Indiana: Choosing a Plan With a Real Home Office

Manufactured Homes in Wawaka, Indiana: Choosing a Plan With a Real Home Office

Wawaka is a small community in western Noble County, a short drive from Ligonier. More and more of the families we talk to from out this way have at least one person working from home. A kitchen table works for a week. For years of work, you want a real place to do it — and with a manufactured home, the time to plan that is when you choose the floor plan.

Where the room sits matters most

The best home office is away from the noise. When you look at the floor plans, notice:

  • Distance from the living room and kitchen. A spare bedroom or den at the end of the home, not off the main living space, keeps calls quieter.
  • A door that closes. An open “flex space” is pleasant, but a room with a door is an office.
  • Windows. Natural light makes a long workday easier. Think about which way the room will face once the home is placed.
  • Storage. A closet keeps files and equipment out of sight.

Ask about electrical options at order

Outlets are far easier to add at the plant than after the home is built. If you know where the desk will go, ask which electrical options a plan offers — an extra outlet, a ceiling fan box — before you order. Our post on which options to decide at order covers the rest of that list.

And check the connection

A great office is no use without a reliable internet connection. Check what service is actually available at your address before you commit to a parcel; our post on checking internet service explains how.

Come see it in person

Bring your laptop bag and stand in the room. You will know quickly whether it works. The showroom is open Monday to Friday 9–5 and Saturday 10–4, and every quote is line by line — home, each option and delivery on separate lines.

Common questions

Is a three-bedroom plan with one room as an office better than a plan with a den?

Often, yes — a bedroom has a door and a closet. But a den placed well can work just as well. Walk both.

Can I add outlets after move-in?

Usually, but it is easier and tidier to choose them at order.
